Exclamation *Very noob alert*

I have to start by saying I'm a complete 'tard n00b at this
I've been up and down these forums trying to get information and I still can't figure out all the codes. I have an '01 Civic EX, but apparently it's not called that .. The closest I can guess is its an "EP"
Some one told me doing a "B16 swap" is a popular start .. I have no idea what that is ..

Can someone help me out with the very basics .. I'm talkin bottom of the barrel here

I thought the B16 was stock in this car. I don't know imports, though.

the b16 was stock in the 99-00 civic si. the 01 civics were completly redone i dont even think the b16 will fit in it. Even if it does the b16 sucks anyway.

not that ive seen one since they came out, but i was under the impression the 01 had a d17, which had the same mounting points and intake/exhaust configuration as the prior d series motors... :goes to look for pictures for more information:

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.

1)you have a d17a2, which is basically like any other sohc d series engine, but is 1.7L instead of the common 1.6L.
2)you have VTEC-E, and 127 stock hp
3)the b16 is torque-less.
4)either turbo and build your current engine, or drop a Kseries in it.

If I'm to build my current d17a2 .. What suggested steps can I look into to improve my performance .. I've been looking into a Greddy exhaust and header .. but after that I'm kinda in the dark
