Question d16y8 modded or 1.5 mini me modded

Which is better or would you prefer a d16y8 built or mini me (d15b7 bottom end, z6 head). I can also trade my stock y8 longblock for the mini-me longblock. lmk what you guys think.

We also need to get a ballpark of what kind of numbers the two setups will put down, hp/tq.

With this setup, if you want the most bang for your buck use an A6 bottom end (removing the oil jet!), and a Y8 head.
This combo will give you a higher compression ( 10.8-10.9:1 ) and more
hp.
As for numbers, the avarage person will see 115-120 WHP, with some minor tuning you can easily get 125-130 WHP, and with a cam and cam gear 135-145 WHP is possible.

What kind of compression does a d15b6 with a d16z6 head put out?

I would probly say around 9:9.1-10:2.1. I would also recomend using an a6 block and y8 head, has a decent amount of compression. I ran a y7 bottom with a6 pistons and a z6 head my compression was somewhere around 10:4.1 and it ran real strong, beat dohc all day long!

I think were gonna do that y8 headgasket trick, where you take out the middle layer of it lol. Worth a shot.

+1. Everyone I know that used y8 blocks threw mains pretty regularly. Personally, I would buy two a6 blocks. Build one and have a spare. Turbo SOHC is being very nice to people for some reason. If you decide to go turbo, PM Cronic . He should be able to lend you some valuble insight on the subject.
