u always need to check the piston ring gap when assembling a motor IMO. if the gap is too large u know there is something wrong and if theyre too tight they need to be filed. OEM pistons generally dont need to be filed if the machione work is done properly but on after market pistons some people like to run slightly larger or slightly smaller piston to wall clearance which obviously directly affects ring gap. as far as the specs go your best bet is to just call the manufacturor and ask

 

my cp's didn't come with the charts for the gap, only piston info.
