what are the procedures/steps to paint your wheels gunmetal, never wanted to do it but my black wheels are to plain, and if its not too hard im gonna do it, have most tools that will be needed i think so let me know -thanks

 

I painted my hx's a bronze color. Looks really good. Just used paint from a local auto parts store. I removed the tires and wheel weights of course. Sprayed a coat every hour for 3 hours. Came out really good.

 

Its really simple... go to Adavance Auto Parts and buy RIM/WHEEL PAINT.. it has a picture of a rims on the canister... dont buy that cheap shit.. each can is about 5 bux, and buy the gunmetal paint, and they have rim clear coat... all together it should run you 15 bux or 16... you dont have to necessarily have to remove the wheels, you could tape up your whels w/ newspaper and tape... if your wheels have paint on them already i would recommend gettin Aircraft paint remover which is in the same aisle as the rims paint... spray the wheels down and then buy sand paper and sand them down... make sure u dont leave paint chips... once they are smooth its all easy from there.. lightly spray the rims w/ the paint, just dont keep the can upside down or facing downward for too long or else it start spitting paint instead or just spraying.. it shouldn't take that long, just make sure you dont over clear coat em... cause sometimes it will run..

I just went ahead and removed mine since I have access to the equipment here at my work and use clip weights to make it look cleaner. never thought of using the clearcoat.

 

tru tru.. yea i wanted to take my tires off but i didn't have the equipment, it must of came out sweet then... yea the clearcoat makes it shinny/glossy, if you leave it with out the clear coat it makes gives it a flat look.

 

thanks guys, i have some rota lookalikes,(traded for my stock si rims) they look somewhat like them, there five spoke 14'' rims and there painted black so i wanted to change it around a bit...ill take before and after pics, ill re-post cause i dont have a camera and i dont know how long it will take to get pics. bit if someone can leyt me knwo what these rims are from i'd apprecieate it - post soon -thanks-
