My brother has a 97 Civic ex, and his axles need replacing, as well as the cv joints, and also the transmission needs a rebuild since the 5th gear and third gear grinds pretty much on every shift. Would you reccomend fixing these problems, or just swapping in a Ls?

 

Swap it... or buy a new tranny for around $150 and a set of axles from discount etc.

if ur gettin a b18a/b not sure, but if u gettin ne thing vtec ur lookin from 3200 to 4500 depending on what engine u decide on

 

you can find an ex tranny cheap, like 300 or less, and i was under the impression that the axles were cv joints....but those can be had brand new for around 160

much cheaper than a swap...however still slower..... it would be much more expensive to swap it ls's are great but you already have a d16 so just keep it and fix the axles and just get a different tranny its cheaper than a rebuild...then boost it or something if you want power

 

how many miles are on the d by the way...and does it have any leaks ect? if so .....swap might be a cheaper alternative...like if rings are gone i would rip that bitch out and put a b in there for sure
