Default Ls/Vtec MAJOR Timing issues

Hey I just put my Ls/vtec back in my crx and I'm having the same problem I was before with it, the "TDC" on the Crank pulley is like when the number one piston is about half way down, then when I crank it the thing is firing with the "up" is pointing --> towards the driver of the car. I had the same problem before with the last motor, This is an Ls/vtec setup with an Ls crank pulley, I've used the same crank pulley and I put the little key in it everytime, I need someone to help me out and I'm willing to pay someone to Come help me time this. Thanks alot -Ben

so are you saying its jumping time do you tighten the 14mm tensinor down tight.sure there is no oil or anything on the cam gears cause the cams word((up)) should always be upfor TdC you better get that checked fast b4 you bend some valves of blow out your manifold

It wont even crank, it sounds like it has no intentions on wanting to crank, Its not that its jumping timing its that the pulley is saying something different than what the timing should be, any other Ideas? Thanks -Ben

do you have the spark plug wires in the right order on the cap? if not maybe the timming belt is out of time. the white tdc marker and red 15 degree btdc marks are for ign timming and should line up w/ the pointer on the timming cover. not totally sure what your talking about but maybe that helps.

did you check the timing belt tensioner and are you using the right belt ? ive never seen or heard of that before ! id tear it back to the timing and redo it. pull the front cover check your cam gears and reckeck the crank pulley. Iunno bro, check your cap too make sure it is in the right order if you used a helms manual its wrong. Just a lil FYI

do you have the lower timing gear on the crank backwords? The crank pulley will be right if the keyway is in it. If you put the lower timing gear on backwords you will be way off like how you describe it.

why try to build an engine when you don't have a clue... pay someone to do it and stop wasting $$$$ on blown up engines. also are you sure your using the crank pulley mark that is by itself and not the one thats in the middle of three?

i dont agree with this you have to start some where no better way to learn than to do it.

any how did you put the key in the bottom timing gear? also i would suggest taking the crank pulley offa nd lineing the bottom gear up with the TDC mark.

Yea I used the right timing belt, and I used the right pumps, but I didnt know that you could put the bottom timing pulley on backwards, but even if you did I dont see how that could make the timing way off.. cause its on the key spot on the crank, but I guess tonight when I get off work I'll pull the balancer and the bottom crank gear and turn it around.. but i still dont understand how it could matter, please explain that to me. Thanks alot for the Help -Ben
