Ls/Vtec MAJOR Timing issues

Also, now that I'm looking at the lower crank gear, I see that it can only go on there one way because it has a locking key on one side, I dont know what it is, the little locking key is in the harmonic balancer. -Ben

Here is some baisic advice:
1. Buy a helms manual or get copies of the timing belt install pages from a local acura/honda dealer for a dohc vtec motor.
2. Remove the timing belt & crank pulley.
3. Line up your cam gears accordingly (up)
4. Line up your timing belt pulley on your crank with the mark on your oil pump according to the manuals instructions & Install the timing belt according to the manuals instructions....
5. Tension the belt... check tdc again & call it a day.

MTBER hit it on the head, pull the crank pulley off and look for the mark on the oil pump, there is a mark scribed on there that will line up witht the crank.
if all else fails, shit stick a damn screwdriver on top of the piston, bring up the crank till right before the screwdriver "floats" and should damn near be right on, thenk check the crank to be sure

I'm gonna try to do that, I seen the mark on the crank gear but I didnt think to time it by that, I just always timed it by the pulley, its not like I dont know how to time a motor I've just never had a motor do this, Im gonna give it another shot by taking the puley off, I really appreciate everyones help. -Ben
