how much should i expect to pay to have someone install a full turbo kit including an intercooler in my car? how much should it cost to buy piece by piece instead of a kit (range like 1000-1500?) how long will a turboed d-series engine last driving daily at 7 psi (the engine has 73,000 miles now)? With a boost controller, does the boost change instantly at the press of a few buttons, or do i need to turn the car off and let the turbo cool or something? i have just a muffler, is a cat back exhaust totally necessary for a turbo application?

 

For one, if you think a turbo timer controls boost....you don't need to have a turbo...A TT lets the car stay on after taking out the keys so the oil circulates through the turbo and cools it down.... also, find one on here in the Import for sale section...search it...You have alot to learn if you think your spending only 1000-1500....there is alot more that comes with buying a turbo "kit"....The engine should be fine running 7psi if you get it tunned properly....

My guess is you don't know much about cars, and can't install it yourself?? If that is not true, the cheapest is just to do it yourself. The manifold/pipes/FMIC/injectors/wastegate/turbo are not that hard to put on if you have the right tools...

I bought mine for 1700, but ended up being about 2g's and I still need it tunned/uberdata/injectors-resistor box(200 bucks)

buy a kit or piece it(piecing is a bitch)1500-2500 bucks, and have someone install it for 500-1000 bucks...have fun hope this helps...

 

my bad, i need sleep, i know that a turbo timer is used so that when you shut off the car the engine runs till the turbo is cooled down so the turbo last significantly longer. i meant boost controller.

 

if i read up and reserched everything, i think i could install it myself, but its always better to spend more money now to get the job done right by a pro than waste money fixing something i messed up on. i'd rather someone else be responsible.

and make sure you find a complete kit...do you have a MT or AT?
please say MT....

and yes, if you already don't know how to install it, don't do it...
