Default low compression in cylander 1, help!!

ran compression test and got 190 across the board, except cylander 1 whic was dangerously low at 125. leak dow test broght it up a lil, but not much..

question is do i need to replace the valves, all or just the 2 intake and exhaust ones, or could it be the rings

any help would be appreciated

I would say rings. What might be the case is that cylinder was originally higher compression then the rest so it's the first to go. unless you bent a valve. Which i would think you would know.

just retried and compression went up to 185, so what i hear is i need to get the piston ring replaced in that cylander right?

if so is it possible that some place can do that without removing the head from the block?

How do you get the piston out of the bottom??? I was always told that you can only get them out from the top, and id imagine that if there was a way, it would only work if the valves in that cylinder were open to prevent it from causing vaccum when you pull it down...

hey chris...if it "were" possible i think pulling the spark plugs would sould the valve problem you were thinking of. but anyway there are 2 notches in the bottom of every cylinder that wont let the piston come out thru the bottom. even if there was a way id like to see some one try to get it back in that way
