low compression in cylander 1, help!!
wasn't quite clear in my words, when i did the leak down test it went back up to 185 in that cylander
i heard if u pull the oil pan you can undo the rod bearings and take out the rods through the bottom thus getting the piston out, never done it before though....just what ive heard, not saying it can or can't be done

not possible. i think you have that mixed up with being able to take the pistons out with the shortblock still in the car. honestly you should just put new rings in the motor while you were doing that. it's not a hard task.

yeah ima go ahead and just pull the head and replace the ring. should i just replace that one or do all 4 while i got it off?
prolly gonna replace the head studs with arp studs as well

Replace them all.
Im betting you didnt do a leakdown test. A leakdown test measures the percentage of how much air escapes through the cylinder. I think your talking about a wet compression test. Using oil to help seat the rings for a limited amount of time.
A leakdown test requires an air compressor, lines, and a controlled amount of pressurized air injected into the cylinder and you can measure how much of that is lost. You can hear where it leaks from, exhaust, head, etc... This can help tell you what is wrong, IE leaky valve seals, rings, or bent valves...
Im going to venture to say your rings are bad in that one cylinder... but I wouldn't say that's definatly the problem. Does your car smoke real bad? It could be an oddly popped head gasket, or a slightly bent valve... or leaky seals...
The fact that it jumped up so high with a wet test would suggest rings though....

knowing your car I'd say it is the valves in cyl. 1.
Pull the head and bring it to a machine shop and have them pressure test each cylinder. Should be like $40.
