most people get away with over 12:1 but youll have an extremely small amount of room for error. moderate ignition timing and a slightly richer a/f mixture are usually required to reduce possible detonation. its kinda of hard to utilize the extra power from compression safely without race fuel.

if it were my street car id leave it below 12:1

I've had a little below 12.5:1 in my R for 2 years and today I'm getting it back and it just got 12.5:1 pistons put in....Tuning is everything though....If you go on Honda-Tech in the all motor form there's peopls with 13.0:1...Once agian Tuning is everything...

I was thinking along the lines of 12:1/12.5:1 also but with extra care and tuning. I was thinking of getting near a 11.5:1 but that would be like a type R internal package and I want to achieve more than that.

<--- 12.7:1 with tuning for 93 octane and it is actually lowered from what it would be with a stock headgasket

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
