just dont think youll get away with it using a generic skunk2, mugen, etc. chip. theyre not meant for high compression applications and usually add a lot of timing which can and will kill a motor over time

theres no need for that much compression. plenty of power is locked in the head and a good set of cams....you can make plenty of power with 11.5:1 and a good ported head and cams.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Stay at 11.3:1-11.8:1 for a build on non forged internals driven daily.

You can build a motor with a c/r of 12.5:1 on pump gas & drive it every day on 93 oct if its tuned, but I don't recommend it.

Good luck.

Thanks for your opinions. The motor is DOHC. I'm using a straight up LS motor gutting all the internals and running JE, Grower set up pistons/cams/valves/rods etc... I,m thinking off stroking it which would involve me buying a new crank also, but now i'm wondering if I should just machine the stock crank. I'm also wondering how far I could bore this bad boy out without having to sleeve it. Does anybody know? I will also be doing major machining on the head cause lets face it thats how I'm going to get alot of my power. I kind of weary on how high of a compression I want for the pistons. When you do major work on the head your compression goes even higher. So I dont want them to high but high enough.
