ls vtec needs more power
ok my friend has a fully built ls vtec. bored 81mm over aftermarket rods pistons rings,type r exhaust manifold to 2.5" custom dual exhaust, type r intake manifold, cold air intake, ported throttle body, 450cc injectors. hondata tuned by secret services, ported 5 angle job head with titanium valves,springs and lifters, skunk 2 stage 2 cams. it like 12:1 compression. theres more but he has put alot of money into this motor obviously and he is not happy with the 195hp dyno. he's also pissed because he got beat by a 93 civic with a stock gsr swap and a homemade pvc intake. what else can he do to get more power. he's talking about getting the weopon r exhaust mani for $ 800. isnt there any more he can do to get more power? he's really frustrated and appreciates your guys help.
well its kind of hard to say without knowing what he has. but if hes looking to stay N/A i would say a good set of cams if he doesnt already have them, the way u describe it, it sounds like hes got almost every bolt on possible so i guess nitrous would be the next step
it honestly sounds like he propably got a super conservative safe tune as well, by that i mean able to be driven in all conditions.
sounds like he might want to put in a little more timing, with compression like that AND hondata with 450s he should be able to go pretty steep on the timing, and that is where you can make some power with compression........is the head milled any?

its in a 99 civic ex coupe. he has skunk 2 stage 2 cams. he said his compression was too high for nos. idk much about that. im not sure if the head is milled or not. he wants to stay all motor because he's already put so much into it. he says he regrets not going turbo. he would have been better off putting in a b16 with a vortech supercharger.
not really sure what the complaint is hes only got 81mm bore first of all and the power hes making is good for a lsvtec with those boltons i havent heard of many people making much more than that on stock bore and either your friend doesnt know how to drive or the gsr wasnt stockor hes not making 195whp there is NO WAY that a stock gsr will beat a ls/vtec with that much power my ls/vtec eats stock gsrs alive and i have pretty much the same set up but a little more/ i think his exspectations are set to high /how much more power does he think he can make on that set up and why is he running such big injectors 310 or 320 would be about max for that set up and exhaust manifold upgrade do u mean header i wouldnt spend the money to get maybe 5-7 whp over what hes got now and weapon r would not be the first choice i think if he wants more power he needs to sleeve 84.5mm and run forged internals and he will pick up whp and torque and will be happy with that so tell him that he is making good power for his set up with 195 whp or sombody lied to him and his not making thast much
he said when he raced the civic gsr he had a bad launch but he wasnt catching up at all. i think his expectations may have been too high too. but secret services dyno tuned the car so i believe he's making the power he says. i told him instead of changing headers to change the exhaust. its a punched out stock cat to 2.5" straight custom piping to 2 dual tip mufflers. i told him to go with a test pipe and a real 3" exhaust.
yeah that dual exhaust shit is definitely GAY
