spun a rod bearing?

I have never heard of an exhaust leak causing "ticking".
A. Drain oil into clean pan, check for fragments of spun bearing. SIMPLE ENUFF!
B. Cut your oil filter open using a dremel or cutting wheel, check for bearing fragments.
C. Depending on results, check valve clearance & or pull oil pan to check oil pickup & rod bearings out...
Simple enuff.

also he seems pretty new to this, i think if he cuts the oil filter open he will get metal pieces in the filter anyway and think that is parts of his bearings...

DAYUM KEITH sorry. jeez. this is the way David and George heard mine. I heard it originally while driving the car, then as David drove it more he heard it cause it got worse.
Not to say they were totally under the car, just concentrate your hearing in that area.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

dont worry about it... i could just see this kid laying under his car with the rod knocking like no tomorrow, and his friend reving the hell out of it... then a red hot rod shoots threw the the oil pan and meets the bone structure of his face... this is really not a good idea...
