Of corse, buy compressor to fit the bracket & pray your civic ac lines fit the compressor.

Do it the right way & use ALL OEM 96 sohc CIVIC AC COMPONENTS with a dohc vtec delsol ac bracket simple enuff.

 

why not check with an a/c shop to see if they can fab the lines with connectors to match your stock compressor and then you can use the bracket you already have. you have to go to an a/c shop anyways to get the service, or at least you should after you open the system to the atmosphere.

 

An a/c shop will charge him for that work.
If his 96 civic already has a/c in place & all he needs is a $100 ac bracket from honda, then I dont see what the big deal is...

Just buy the a/c bracket & bolt the stock a/c system up & have it charged by an ac shop.

 

right but he said all he had was the gsr bracket and needed to know what lines and compressor to buy. since he has to buy the lines anyway, have them fabbed: since he already has the gsr bracket why waste the $100 on a different bracket and still have to buy the compressor:

the $100 saving on the unneeded bracket will be more than enough to compensate for the cost of fabbing some lines.

 

Fabbed lines suck IMO I had them on my integra when I purchased it & both of them split....

Oem lines is the way to go.

I didnt read "now i have everything for the A/c in the car except for the compressor, lines, and compressor bracket." On his post... Hence my responses.

I still would use sohc 96-00 civic components from a junkyard.
Why? OEM ac lines, better fitment, cleaner look etc.

 

yeah oem is the way to go if it will all go in. if the 96 lines would bolt to a 98 compressor then he would be set. I'm just thinking that if they won't then the easiest route to go is fabbing lines, or maybe just the ends that connect to the compressor. use oem except for like the last 12 inches then you could get the best of both worlds. as for fabbed lines sucking I don't know about that. what are oem lines?? just metal tubbing that was bent by someone or some machine to fit the car. the only dif is the a/c shops quality, both in the material and workmanship, also is it waranteed. you could argue oem is best always but if that were true we would leave our engines bone stock with swaps and no forced induction..... I don't see that happening

if the tips of the 96 lines bolt up to the 98 compressor the go oem.

 

OMG finally someone understands. So what your saying is since i already have the gsr bracket, i can just get a gsr compressor, then get some lines from a civic and the ac place can probably fab them to fit the gsr compressor. Do u think the quality could be that bad in the fab. work?? Because i mean it is just $100 for the bracket, and if that makes life alot simpler then that would be my way to go. But if haveing custom fabbed lines is ok then i will do that. Do u guys recomend getting the custom lines with the money i save from buying the bracket?? Also i heard that the b-series compressor creates a stronger more efficient amount of cold air for the air conditioning. Which sounds great to me since i havnt had A/C in a year and a half.

 

the only part of the a/c lines that may have to be fabbed is the end connectors that hook up to the compressor, if you want oem quality with as little fabbing as possible get the stock lines for your car ( junk yard or check for sale forum ) and if the compressor connections are different then just have the a/c shop fab the right ends onto the stock lines. If the a/c shop will warranty the lines then let them do it all. also check that the compressor and lines are compatible with the same type of refrigerant, the old shit is the r-12 and the new is r134 ( it may be the other way around ) I would make sure that you can run the new stuff since it is cheaper to fill up with by $30+ a can. given the year of your car I don't think it will be a prob but I can't remember when the switch was done on vehicles from the factory.

 

a 99-00 Si bracket and compressor w/ your stock lines will getrdun also.

im sure there are many other combos that can be done and all are just as effective

 

so i can also find a 99-00 si bracket and compressor and my stock lines will work???
