It depends how serious you get...
For example.. When I installed crane 0012 cams into my old car, my e/ts went from 16.0s an 15.9s to 15.5s UNTUNED with everything at TOP DEAD CENTER.
If you milled your head, installed cams, used camgears, a fuel controller such as an safc, dyno time You would see pretty decent improvments for the money invested.
Cams - $400
Cam Gears- $200-300
Safc - $250
Head milling - $25 plus a headgasket & head studs $200 total
Tuning - $200-300
The only good thing about this aproach is you can do it little by little.
If you truely want to make power, purchase a turbo kit, but its a big investment....

ok i went 14. with my ls. i had, intake headers and itr pistons. my car was also 2262lbs stock. i dont see you having a problem running mid to low 14's with a fully built ls. your never gonna get anywhere with oem pistons in there so thats a definate upgrade. as far as the intake manifold??????? i wasnt to sure about getting one because ive never seen anyone use a after market manifold on a ls and i would want to see in person how it performed. but swapping a vtec head would be better off
