Overheating intermittently? WTF
Ok my car over heated again today and blew all the coolant out of the hose that connects the resevoir to the radiator cap.
3 days ago i removed the thermostat and it ran fine for a few days.. Then on my way home it over heats while going down the highway.
Luckily i had a spare jug of water with me just incase so i filled it back up and drove it home (15 miles) without the temp going above normal.
Ive never heard of a water pump going out like this... stops working... starts working.. stops... starts...
Unless its the radiator for some reason..
Fans work fine (it overheated on the highway)
No coolant is leaking out (overheating/blowing out)
Am i missing something?
Recommendation on low priced seller for a water pump. And possibly someone to install it. How many hours do u think it takes to install it? I thinking 2.

well 99.999% a water pump will not go out if it does you will no from the sounds being that it is belt driven...to me it is sounding like your engine ground wire is not tight or is not connecting well..but as for changeing it is very easy JUST make sure you drown it very well

explain to me why a engine ground would cause this problem?
The belt drives the pump so is constantly spinning. WOuldnt the faulting engine ground cause other things to go wrong too.?
edit
Ok looked it up.. impellor can become corroded and not cycle fluid properly.. Sounds doubtful cuz its not constant.
Only other thing is radiator cap... which on this car acts like a thermostat too.. i'll try that first.

If it goes up and down constantly, it sounds like you have a leak somewhere, like check all the hoses on the intake manifold, make sure your not leaking anything anywhere. I had the same problem but it was because all my coolant was going into my oil.. hehe blown headgasket. but good luck -Ben

i had the same problem, i hit a big rock and it put a hair line split in the bottom of my rediator and i couldnt notice the water leaking out, the water didnt leak out untill the system got alot of pressure on it, so i never noticed it until my car started over heating...sucks, check for leakage, get on some pavement and turn ur car on and let it idle for a while and let the pressure build up in the system and check for any leaks under the car..
if your engine does not get grounded right its like touching a postive and neg wire 2gether the engine will get hot and over heat from the plugs not being able to ground them selves a ground wire work with your sparkplugs mainly...but also if it over heats while driveing you may have a head problem

Found it-
It was a leak. I didnt catch it before cuz car was at an incline in my drive way so it'd leak onto a plastic piece and not to the ground. I noticed the fluid level was a little bit low.. thought it was an air bubble working itself out but i checked it on a flat surface... And i guess the fluid i saw after it over heated was just small deposits blowing out with the steam.
Thanks for the help everyone.. Its always good to talk to people and look at all possibilities so i can figure it out
