Default engine starter problem

hey all, i own a 89 crx si and my starter has been doing funny stuff lately, when i turn the key to start, it just makes a click sound from under the hood. its a recently new starter because my old starter was doing this too. It does start, but after a few tries. could it be an ignition switch problem too? because the car does have an alarm and it is wired into the ignition switch harness. any help would be great, thanks!

Check for loose wire's from the starter relay that are causing it to short. Also it could be the nuetral safety switch thing.

maybe not, mine old car did the same thing, everyone told me the starter was bad so i replaced the starter and it was fine for about a week then it started doing it again. all i did was run a wire from the starter to the inside of the car to a push button start and it has been working fine ever since. i think the wires on hondas are shitty coming from the starter at least cause im seeing more and more people having this problem. hope this helps.

if you've checked the positve connection at the starter and it is tight ...it's possible you have a bad ground cable.Honda uses a wimpy guage cable...it's easy to check take a regular battery jumper cable...hook it to the negative cable on the battery and the other end to any major metal part of the case..if it starts right up get a new negative cable
