CRX, Doesn't like running right (Again)
Alright, I have a 90' CRX DX with an SI block and head (d16z6), It has the stock DX intake manifold (Dual Point) and itstarts and runs (Kinda) It idles at around 500rpm, When I try to rev it, It takes around 15-20 seconds to go from 500rpm to 4k-5k FULL THROTTLE.
It runs REALLY choppy and the exhast pipe bangs on the bottom of the car at anything less than 2k rpms. We replaced the fuel injectors, and ECU do to the fact that the other ECU liked spitting out new codes and then they would go away (One of which was a fuel injector error).
Also, If you hold it at around 1.5k rpms and try to drop it in gear it just instantly bogs down to 500 rpms, and doesn't do anything even if you hold the accelerator to the floor.
Another thing, When you put the key to click 2, You can hear the fuel pump come on for a second, then a relay clicks up near the dash, and the fuel pump shuts off, Should it be doing this?
Right now the ECU is spitting out two codes, 10 (Intake Air Temp), and 14 (Electronic Air Control (EACV))
Does anyone has any insight on what could be wrong with it?

yeah the fuel pump shuts off after a while cause all it did was just prime the line, get fuel pressure up. you might want to look at your o2 sensor and or ignition.

Do you honestly think that the o2 sensor would make it run this horrible?
As for the ignition system, Replaces all spark plug wires, new ignition coil, and a few other things in the distributor.

just want to clarify that you are running a dual point intake on a mulitpoint head? correct me if i am wrong, but you should be having problems.
you need to correct the situation by getting a si intake and doing the wiring for a multipoint injection. you should be using obd1 injectors and ground the resister.
you need the ecu for your d16z6 head which is an obd1, 92-95 distributer, the P28 and do the wiring mods.
sounds like you need wiring help as well.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Correct me if I'm wrong, But aren't all the heads for the 88-91 D series engines the same? I know the that sold me the car, has a DX head with an Si intake, and his car runs fine. I honestly don't see where the difference is in the heads....
actually they are not. the difference is in many areas. from flow to vtec cam lobes to which distributer it can/should take to the cc's of the combustion chamber.
i went from an 91 dx dual point motor to an 89 rebuilt mini me si high compression motor. i needed wiring, a msd switch for the vtec, and i am running obdo. and trust me, i need engine management badly at certain points in my power band.
i used a d16a6 block, y8 head with y8 intake. the y8 intake and throttle body was from an automatic, so we had to modify it for for a few things.
there are diff's in everything. if you want your engine to run correctly, get it off the dual point and get it on multipoint. you'll need to wire in the two injectors and extend the other two. plus what i have mentioned before.
"Also, If you hold it at around 1.5k rpms and try to drop it in gear it just instantly bogs down to 500 rpms, and doesn't do anything even if you hold the accelerator to the floor."
the reason your car bogs down is because you don't have enough air or fuel to make anything go. check your spark plugs, my bet is that they are white with hardly any burn on them at all. meaning you are running really lean.
you are using an ecu that is telling two non-existant injectors what to do for a head that was built for 4 injectors and running on a dual point. it also has air maps for way more air intake than what the dx provided.
goodluck.

Arg, Sorry I made a mistake, I accidently typed d16z6, When in fact its a d16a6 (Sorry about that), Firstly Its not an Si ECU, Its another DX ecu, Secondly, the two present injectors should be able to support a 00.1 difference in displacement.
I just replaced the fuel filter today, in hopes that mabye it was the fuel pressure (Or the lack there of, No hiss or anything when you released a fuel line, or opened the gas tank) But unfortunatly, My friend was playing with the timing (Jumping it a notch both ways) to check if mabye that was the problem since people were saying the timing was off due to the fact that the intake hissed REALLY loud, and you could hear exhaust gases through it. But back onto the subject, I was trying to loosen the tensionor bolt, and it stripped so bad I can't fit a 14mm on it anymore. (Any sugestions for getting that off?)
Now that I have cleared things up, What do you think it could be?

for that stripped tensioner bolt sorry but you might have to take the motor out to gain a easy straight forward access to it.
