im gonna be purchasing a ys1 tranny from a tr member. know i know there is a difference between the lsys1 and the gsr ys1 but i cant tell the difference. is there anyway of knowing by looking at it? and is there any other precautions i should take when buying a tranny? i know you cant really tell if its a good tranny by looking at it but any helpful tips would be highly appreciated.

to do that you would have to open it up, but check the splines, seals if any, etc....

 

well if you know the person and or trust them there is a sticker on it, but that is the only way I know to tell.

sticker means nothing since they both use the same casing. Open it up and count or you can wait until it's installed. You'll be close to 5krpm in 5th at around 75-80mph.

 

like I said if you trust the person go by the sticker because the sticker if it is true will tell you what tranny it is.

okay, let me repeat. Both the YS1 GSR and LS will have "YS1" on the tranny. So what the hell do you find out when "go by the sticker"? Jack shit.

 

josh- thanx for the numbers . . . is it the higher the number the shorter the gear ratio ? or the other way around & did the B18a1 have LSD?
