Default 94' DX 205k miles bad idea ?

I might buy a 94 dx w/ 205k ... one owner runs great has the 1.6 vtec , moon roof , power everything ... They said 2500 and will take payments! body has some damage but nothing i could'nt handle ... you think its a good deal .. part that scares me is 205k .. but its a honda people tell me it has anouther 100k on it ..

depending on the care the owner gave it check for a few things

oil leaks (esp. rear main seal)
coolant leaks
clutch engagement
vtec engagement
ask for service records
look underneath the car at cv boots

after driving honda's for 17 years, i can tell by a test drive.

my 91 dx 1.5 motor had 207,000 miles on it before i swapped the engine and ran so smooth and quiet...ahhh. took it out and found a couple of oil leaks. but i believe it had another 100k to go.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

did you say dx? cause they don't come stock w/ a d16z6 (sohc vtec). meaning it had to have been swapped.

agree with above statement ! DX doesnt have VTEC D16Z6 and 2500 is way too much for a car with 205k miles kbb or NADA will rate as no value ! id pay no more than 800 at the most. FOr that price you could buy a new less mileage actual VTEC vehicle.

When i look for a car i think the body is most important. You can pick up a single cam swap complete for $400. When you get into body work you could be talking about alot of money. That seems overpriced if the body isnt nice.
