I would guess Sticky valves, or incorrect timing, but over 90% of problems come down to Ignition components, such as Distrbutor, rotor, plugs, wires, timing........ does it back fire/studder through the intake mani?

you may want to check your ignition coil, my b16 did that for over 4 months (well something similar) and as soon as i replaced the ign coil from the b16 to the USDM civic SI coil it runs fine.

is the ignition coil inside the distributor assembly? if so then i shouldn't need it changed out b/c my dist. is brand new...and yes it backfires through the intake mani sometimes

im not sure on the Correct stock timing, but i would check your timimg.....if its fine then it could be valve clearances or sticking valves, in that case you would have to take the head off and get it decarbonized.....

since you said you replaced the plugs/wires i dont think your insulators for the plugs are faulty....did you gap them correctly?

your fuel injectors, intake mani could also have a vaccum leak....

and yeah, the coil is in the distrib assy.

put a volt meter on your map sensor to make sure its reading the correct voltage. My car did the exact same thing when the vac line to my map sensor burst.

if this just started happening it could just be a bad tank of gas?
