timing belt broke what to do

Default timing belt broke what to do

My timing belt broke today while i was driving i was doing about 45-50 and i was wondering how to tell if i fucked up the head or anythign or how i can tell if i messed it up i got a d16y8 head for my car so if i have to replce the head i dont care cause i got an extra one so its ok well if you guys got any advice on what to do or any way to tell how to tell if the head is bad or not i got a d15 block and i am eventually doing a mini me so that all i know

so are things looking bad or good in my favor or no i dont know how much valve clearance there is i hopefully didnt fuck anythign up but i dont know ill pull the head this weekend but thanks alot man if i didnt fuck up the pistons i am putting on the d16y8 head can you give me a list of things i need to get to complete this swap like gasets and belts and that sort

at 45-50 u were probably goin at a decent rpm, so theres a good chance at LEAST some valves are bent. have a shop look it over.

I would put a belt on it and then check the valve clearances first before you tear it down. If the valve clearances are extremly high, then you have bent valves. I have seen some that don't bend the valves when the belt breaks.

put a belt on first .d series engines do not usually bend valve when the belt breaks. good luck

do a compresstion test to see if you bent any valves,I dont think
you did because the d16y8 head has less compresstion & is taller than the d16z6 head.. I snapped a few of sohc T-belts & no harm was done to the head..or valves..put a T-belt on & go from there........

well i think i am just going to do the mini me swap anyways just to do it its needs to be done i got everytign just need to get the ballls to do it im sure i can do it but ive never done it before
