Default Conn. Rod Strength

I have a GSR and getting ready to build it up a little with a turbo. I was wondering if anyone had a HP limit for these rods in the engine?

none at all go aftermarket or dont plan on getting lotsa safe power. Well Honestly you can run safely tuned correctly and not rigged up. Id say close to 300 useable HP unsafe. But thats with supporting mods.

lol no comment how many rods does your engines have again ? lol, Johns correct, rods usually wont go under boost due to the high constraints placed on them when being built ( undermoderatly boosted applications) , they are high CR engines and handle high pressures, at those CR extra pressure (boost) builds heat which directly weakens pistons and cyl walls.

Think of a diesal engine, how does it burn the fuel 90% compression and 10%spark (glow plugs)

Heat is the #1 Killer of engines, boost accelerates that. N20 is a good way to keep the heat down and add some etra booty, then you worry about Rods lol.

Pressure = Heat
Motion = Heat
Expansion = Cool
No motion = No heat

does that help any ?

yea the only reason the rods go on my engines is because billet rods aren't legal

they are making them legal at some tracks though

if you plan on staying around the 300hp mark, stock rods are fine, get them shotpeened/polished and balanced if you are on a budget and can afford forged ones
the pistons is what you have to worry about, i think its wekest point on the bottom end of our engines
