Build up the D16A6. That is what i am doing in my 89' hatch. You don't need that ( VTEC ) to make power. I will have plenty of power.

He's couldnt be any more correct.Some all motor non vtec hondas are doing 10's in the 1/4.It wont be streetable but its your choice.I say if your not rebuilding get an ls and save for the turbo or vtec head swap.As far as getting a gsr or b16 dont waste your money.

GSR= Piston Coolers (oil squiters)
Main Girdle
VTEC High Flowing Head
Kinda thin Block
Nice room for overbore.

Only thing B18C5 has different is stronger trany brace and valvtrain and cam, and pistons.

B18C is the best series to use, very versitile. B18A and B18B no squiters and thicker block no main girdle.
