Default brake lights problem

The problem is when my headlights are on. The brake lights do not dim when the brake pedal isnt being pressed, they stay fully on the whole time the headlights are on. But when the headlights are off they work fine (they stay off until brake is pressed). So i know it not the switch behind the pedal being stuck.

Does anyone know what the problem would be, and could also fix it, if its not something simple.

thanks...

it's usually a little rubber ring that wears out and needs to be replaced under the dash on the brake pedal....You might find pieces of it on the floor board. LMK What kind of car you have.

Sounds like you may have a short. Have you ever put a fuse bigger than recommended size in the fuse box? You could've melted wires together if you did. My car ran fine for over a year after I got it, then all of a sudden a bunch of wires fused together. After lookin around trying to figure it out, I found a 30A fuse in a 10A slot...
