Default h22a, ls vtec, b18, b16a or b16b?

i'm wondering what people have to say about them all. i'm going to do a swap and i want all the info from the people that have them. i'm not really a big fan of the b16a, i'm thinking h22 or ls vtec. i know that alot has to be done to fit the h22 but i still like them lol.

thanks

My new favorite is the h22a but it is alot tougher. What are your goals for the car drag, auto X, all around?

uh well i'm looking for more all around. i just love the h22, it's just sick in a hatch. i know a kid that has one in his and it's just crazy. 200 out of the box is a good start but i'm not sure on what has the most potential. i would really like to get around 250whp wich is plenty for my style.

For 250whp NA go for the H22. And it's Vtec, NOT Vtech, that is a phone.

depends what engine you get. if you want to install pistons /rods in an H22 you have to have the block sleeved. its cylinder walls, like the s2000's , do not like forged pistons. .. just a thought you need to look into if money is a deal in this swap.

I am Proud Prelude, and H22 owner. The the car and the motor. Its is a work and progress, and will never truly be done.
I will all so be the first to tell you to go with a B18, or LS VTEC, whichh is pretty much the same thing as a B18.
Why you ask?
Though the H22, has 200hp I think around 168lbs TQ. It doesnt' respond very well to Mods, not like the B18,
The B18 also have more potential, and has better after market support. The only way your gonna see 250WHP with an H22 is if you boost, or go nitrous, but for N/A It will cost a hell of a lot of money. That is if it is even possible to make that Power N/A, and still be Daily drivable..
Also you said you wanted a good all around car, Well the H22 is Bigger and heavier. It would make for a good Drag car, but would be a little Front heavy if you wanted to AutoX.
One thing that I do hate about the H22 is its Cable Shifted Transmission. Makes it feel sluggish, and a short shift adapter, doesn't really do all that much. Where the B-Series are rod shifted, Everything is solid and precise, and you can get a true Short shift kit with it.
If you want More power and tq with good after market and would also keep the car lighter, go with the B18, Or even a B20. Basicially an LS VTEC except you use the 2 liter block from a CRV. .
Just my .02
Dan

The aftermarket on the B-series is much better, you should research bot the Hs and the Bs and decide which you think is best.

Its not that you shouldn't do it, Its just not recommended.
Honestly I don't know why. You could just go with Type-S Pistons. But if you want to truly build a bullet proof bottom end, Resleave with Darton, and get Forged Pistons and Rods.
Most poeple say that the weakes link in the H22 is the Rods. Its fine for when you build a motor, but they say you can Egg your rods if you up the Rev Limiter....
