i have seen some seriously sick ass numbers with minor mods to the K motors but i know swapping it in isnt the easiest thing in the world. http://www.hondata.com/k20arelease.html here is a few dynos of 2 different K motors.

Definitely k-series. Hard swap to wire it looks like.

yeah right the k20 has an ecu code that has to be programmed at the honda dealership and youll probably be spending a pretty penny but i think sport compact car or super street did a swap into 01+ civic hatch and they said it was outrageous what they spent but if you have the bank awesome fucking engine and easy to build up worth the money if ya got it.

Do yourself a favor and contact Cybernation Motorsports in Fort Lauderdale...Hondata contacts them for help with making power on stock ECU boosted K-motors...

Swapping K-Motors into 01up Civics are done everyday at this shop and I will go so far as to say they are at the top of the food chain on Research and Development on the K-Series...

i'm not a big fan of the k-series motor, i'd stick to b-series, more technology for them at the moment, and much cheaper.

I would say, though i have no experience with the k series, to go k20, simply because i have never seen a k swap. It sounds better for obvious reasons, displacement, newer design, but you also have the price to contend with.
