i think its 2800 im not sure. i test drove a new si but i ended up gettin my crx instead. either way the vtc is the key in k series.
There was an article in Sport compact car, I think, where they bought a new RSX-S and swapped the motor into a '02 Civic Si. They mentioned they had to drive it real easy to keep it out of Vtec range to bring it to a dealer and have the ECU re-programmed.
The why new i vtec works(besides on the rsx type-s) is a two rocker arm vtec, unlike the three rocker vtec on the past. both rocker arms follow their cam lobes with one being slightly bigger then the first. At 2800 rpm, both rocker arms lock toghter and follow the bigger one. I-VTEC also incorporates vairable valve timing.
