CTR or ITR pistons....??
Also CTR pistons weigh more then b16 pistons do, which are obviously a moving part which has alot more effect on the motor. You need to ask yourself if CTR pistons and the extra .7 compression is worth it. IMO its not. Unless building a race car and not a daily driver. If every tiny bit of compression counts that much to you, mill the head some.

CTRs Have a highest dome IVE ever seen. BUT Say you mill your head for a nice clean surface. thats even more compression and more of a chance of Valve to piston collision.
Go with Type Rs for Less worries!

not its not neil and it ait bullshit ..cory that use to work and a&e now worken at gearhead ,and he just open his own shop .. alls he ran was a 11.9 .. it not like it that hard to do with a 1200 pound car .
If you're afraid of the high compression from the ctr, you can always go with the pr3 or p30 pistons from b16. ITR is a bit on the low compression side for a built motor.
I'm currently running ctr in my gsr bottom end with a ls head. I'm working on the gsr head so hopefully I can put it back on soon and see how it goes.

actually...your best choice would probably be the b16's....if you still have the p72 head
the ctr's yeild a very high compression ratio with th gsr head...due to the smaller combustion chamber (square shape)
depending on you cam choice you might have valve relief issues
with the b16's you wouldnt have to modify the rods either
(i think...because on b18a' or b18b's you need to shave the top wrist pin to clear any of th R type pistons)
anysways go forth and get some porn...it helps with any mod

I researched this issue a few months back, you could go with JDM ITR Pistons which have a 11.1 CR rather than the USDM ITR pistons. The CTR pistons with a gsr head will be very high compression. You will have to retard timing in the ignition. Now with an Si head the compression will be .2 less. I am building a gsr block with a si head and I was originally going to go with the CTR pistons, instead I have opted over to the JDM ITR pistons which will give me a good daily driver and excellent horsepower for my application.
