Lightbulb Huge Honda Question, Lots of Feedback plz!

Ok guys, KJ fixed the problem with my DX, *much thanks man* so now my piggy bank has swap written all over it, this is what i want to do, TURBO, i dont like the bottle, i want a turbo, i wanna build the engine up *eventually* and i want the car to last, i dont plan on goin to the track n gettin times, but if i pull up beside a cobra or saleen i wanna embarrass them. i dont have any clue whatsoever to swap into my hatch, but factors include durability, which one is best for turbo, and i dont wanna put something in there that shouldnt fit, im lookin for about mid to low 13's maybe 12s i dunno, id like some opinions on what i should go with engine wise, it would be much appreciated, thanks ahead for your feedback

both personal experience and rock solid facts will be considered

My brother had a 92 CX Hatch with a GSR swap (motor was 100% stock) with a T3/T04e turbo pushing 8 pounds and put 285.8 HP to the wheels and 202.6 fpt. Ran a low low 12...maybe even 11's, never made it to the track with it. Also he used Hondata stage 4B. KJ did all the Vtec wiring as well, so KJ knows this car.

This car beat every V8 that got next to it, even when they tried fly by's.

Just my 2 cents.

Kris

i have a b16 in my hatch and a turbo setup on my 99si with a built motor, it really depends on how much you wanna spend, and none of the "this will get me by for now" type mentality. start with a nicely factory rebuilt B series motor if you wanna drive, and then if you wanna turbo the strong foundation is there for turboing and building as well.

Well if you really are concerned about reliability like you say you are, forget turbo, and start thinking N/A.

A setup similar to Keith's old setup should get you what you want. A nice strong running b18c1 swap that has not been ragged on yet and a properly sized and tuned turbo setup. If the b18c1 swap is a little too expensive then a b16a can work out. Their cylinder walls seem to stand up pretty good. With any turbo car no matter how well it is tuned needs to be constantly monitored and taken care of.

but, turbo charging a rebuilt engine and not beating on it all the time would make it reliable right? i mean like i said i dont know alot about turbo charged cars but im willing to take my time and build it right in order to make it fast and last a long time, that is possible...right?

Oh, and whats up with Turbocharging SOHC Vtecs, i heard they are fast to the point of comparing to a built up B series if you do them correctly

Go b-series. A built up single cam is comparable to a stock b-series.
