Ls/Vtec opinons and help
Ok so I have a starting block for the ls/vtec setup already in my car...I have a 98 gs...So I have the ls block...From what I understand I will need the following parts:
-Vtec head
-Computer
-Oil line
-T for the oil line and sending unit
-move the Dowel pins on the ls block
Anything else let me know...
My big questions are next. What type of head should I use? I don't want to go way over budget just something that will work goo and will last. Thinking either B16 or B18c1. Next what computer will I need to go with that head? What will I have to do to wire the Vtec? I am also wanting to strengthen the bottom end as well. I was told that you can put b16 pistons on the ls rods and not have a prolem with the clearence even with the Vtec head. Is this true or can I do it with other pistons? Also I am looking at getting the pistons forged as well as rods...Is this worth the money? I am also thinking about using N20 after the build. Would it be stong enough to do? Now would I be able to do all of this without taking the engine out of my car? If not how long would it have to be taken out and would anything on the bottom end need to be taken to a machine shop? one last thing youll need is the 1/8npt allen key plug that will plug the oil supply hole in the bottom of the head. as far as getting a head id start off with a b16 head(theyre easier to come buy and supposedly flow a little better than a gsr head. for a computer id always have to recommend hondata especially if you plan on have high compression and nitrous, but if worst comes to worst id get something obd1 converted with a vafc or something along those lines. and for the motor some eagle rods with some type of forged piston(wiseco, endyn, JE) will do the trick, the internals really depend on how much nitrous u plan on throwing at them.
I am not sure how much N20 I would run...How much would an Ls/Vtec produce with a high comp ratio...I don't know how much compression I should run and I don't even really have to run N20, but I would like it there just for the extra power...
