My civic has more than 182,000 miles with the original clutch and tranny components. I'm having problems getting into third and fourth gear when I downshift. If the car is not going too fast (20 mph - 30mph) I'm able to down shift a lot easier and in some instances with out any problem. I also experience problems when I shift from third to fourth (while accelerating) and the motor is at 5k rpm or more (sometimes it will grind as it gets into gear). If I'm about 3k rpm I'm able to shift just fine. I'm not hearing the car grind unless I'm 5k or more. I usually feel that the gear will not want to go into place. Some times in the down shifting (40 mph or 60mph)and in the accelerating I have to rev with out the gear engaged to bring up the rpm to get into third and forth.

I'm not sure if the synchros are bad or my clutch needs replacing. Maybe both. I tend to believe that my clutch is giving me the problem.
