oh ok when THen i would say not to buy it,It will cost you less to get a 90-91 integra engine in your civic then to make the d16 fit in there if you had a 85 86 87 hatch/crx it would be worth it,just alot of stuff to deal with

This motor will not bolt into an 88-91 Honda Civic or CRX. The mounts do not line up from the motor to the car. It can be done, but will be costly, as Rangcrx stated.
+1 Cronic. This swap is a waste of time.
They (D16A9 motors) barely make over 100 HP. If you want to bolt in something similar to this engine that is very cheap, look for a D16A6 (the real one) out of a 88-91 Civic/CRX Si. Everything lines up. You will also need to do a DPFI to MPFI swap if you have a Standard or DX model.

Unless you want to go ZC DOHC. Which will bring you from 113hp (87-89 teg) to 130hp (ZC DOHC). They look a like, but are not.

I know the answer because I put a d16a1 in my 89 crx si.
The motor will fit, but this is what i had to do:
1. tranny and block only match 4 out of 5 bolts, but still works.
2. CYL sensor needs to be rewired, and the distributor plug needs to be modified to fit the A1 distributor also.
3. 2 vacuum lines need to be sealed.
4. I only had 3 motor mounts, no driver's side mount.
5. no knock sensor on A1 block, so no need to hook that up.

That's all, and the engine fits and runs great, BUT here's what happened with the motor running:

1. raced a del sol non-vtec and I lost.
2. after that, I turboed it and 7PSIs blew valve seals.
3. rebuilt head after that.
4. after 395 miles with this motor, It threw a rod.

In conclution, the motor will work, but it has NO potential as a high HP motor, no potential, did I mention no potential?
