yeah just dont put it by the filter. pretty dumb if you actually understand the purpose of an intake. the purpose of an aftermarket air intake is to put more air into your motor...right? yes, so if the filter that is supplying the air is under water then you need another way to put the air into it, duh. so put the bypas valve closer to the t/b(throttle body). pretty idiot proof. but since being a part of this site i know that there are people out there that are that stupid.

good luck and water sucks...hopefully your intake doesnt suck water!

LOL, trust me I know my fair share about cars, I was just giving all the possibilities of where the bypass valve could go. So really the only 2 options would be in the middle or by the TB. The only thing thats scares me is if I put it by the TB that means the intake could suck the water the way to TB. I dont think I would want water that close.

Seriously just save you money and do what I did. Cut the thing in half and put a connector hose over it. Whan ever it rans really hard I just disconnect the connector hose and drive. Or you can end up like bart who had the bypass......https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/s...hreadid=101689

95gsr I think you have the right idea. I can save myself the $40 by not buying the bypass valve and since the intake has 2 pipes I can just keep a screwdriver handy in the car. When it starts raining go to Short Ram and when Its sunny go cold air. It'll be a pain in the ass but I think it should be worth it.

If you drive safe..ie watch out for big puddles.. you really dont have to worry about it. I've only had to disconnect mine twice this summer.

Put it in the middle... when you buy the bypass valve it will tell you exactly what to do in the installation instructions.

I just bought one, here is what it says...

-Do Not mount the bypass valve between throttle body and pipe...

-On engines thathave and air flow meter, do NOT install the bypass valve between the throttle body and the air flow meter.

-Try to position the bypass valve as high as possible on the pipe.

Hope this helps.

sell the CAI intake and get a shortman, its not worth the risk
either way bypass valves suck! plus its hurricane season!so its gonna rain very often trust me u don,t wanna hydrolock your motor cause that would suck! or u can do like and get both the cai and the shortram intake!
