I would use what you got. You already have a good platform. Don't bother getting the block resleeved. I have seen GSR sleeves handle quite a bit of boost when done right (Hondata and larger injectors).

if you already have a gsr (thats what it looks like from your first post), there is absolutely no reason to get another engine. it's going to depend on your power goals for this motor how you build it up. if you want a quick, responsive, low boost motor, i can't imagine you would even need to touch the motor in any way, just get it tuned the right way. however, if you think you want a high boost dyno beast, then it's going to take a little more work (re-sleeve the block, forged pistons, rods, balancing, etc.) but either way, for fucks sake, get hondata. don't risk blowing everything up because you skimped 100 bucks on engine tuning. it's not worth it. do it right the first time.

What i want to know is how can i tell if the motor is really a type r i know it should say B18C but doesn't the Jdm gsr also say that, is there a way to distingush the 2?

And what mods can i do to that motor? I was thinking about going Turbo and spray. but as far as the build up what should i change..

Thanx
They'll both say B18C on the block but the Arrr will have a different head, manifold, VC, tranny, etc.
I'd just stick with your stock motor and mod it up. Getting a motor swap now days is more trouble than it's worth.

I ran 10-12lbs of boost on my stock ITR motor for more than 24,000miles without a single issue. Given the USDM is 10.6:1 compression verses the JDM 11:1 compression.
I would not recommend running boost on 11:1 unless you know what you are doing otherwise it will put out some great numbers on low boost. Just dont let it knock at all. Invest in good parts and safety equipment and you will be fine.

A simple fix would to be get the JDM motor if your getting a good deal and put in some GSR pistons and sell the ITR pistons.

IF you need more info just pm me.

absolutly correct, high compression makes great power when boost is thrown into the mix. but like stated in Mugens post, it takes a lot more TLC to make it run good and be reliable. you can do it. and using a type R trans mission with lsd will be great. short gears are awesome for boost, the tighter the gear, the faster you will speed up. all i have to say is use quality parts on your build and a great Engine managment system I.E Hondata S-200 w/ boost option and data logging. oh and to comfirm your way of finding out if its a real JDM R motor the head will have P-73 stamped on the front of it in one of the three information circles.

High Compression + Boost= good power and a lot of money invested.
