compression test?
take the spark plug out of the cylinder, put the hose down where the spark plug was, disconnect plug wires from the distributor and turn over the engine till you the needle will not go up anymore on the guage. i think that should be it, not sure if you have to do anything with the fuel line.

Please remember to disconnect your fuel pump fuse, as to not flood the engine, also. Turn the engine over the same amount of times for each cylinder.
Thanks.

Also I didn't see mentioned anything here about leaving the throttle WIDE open. So I will write the steps:
1) Disconnect Fuel pump fuse
2) remove plug wires
3) remove spark plugs
4) screw compression tester into spark plug hole
5) either block the throttle wide open or simply jump into the driver's seat and keep your foot on the pedal
6) turn the ignition and crank the motor seven times. Seven seems to work the best.
7) get out, check gauge, repeat three more times.
You might also want someone to monitor the gauge while you're cranking it as the way the cylinder builds pressure can also help in troubleshooting.
