Should you have potassium iodide pills to protect yourself from a nuclear attack?
Should you have potassium iodide pills to protect yourself from a nuclear attack?
Well, here’s the answer and what I do…
If there’s a nuclear event, there’s obviously going to be radioactive material in the air.
And when you breathe it in or eat food covered in it, this material can damage your thyroid gland and can eventually lead to thyroid cancer.
But, if you take potassium iodide pills, it basically blocks your thyroid gland from absorbing in the radioactive iodine that can harm you.
However, it’s important to note that you need to take the potassium iodide pills before or right when the nuclear event happens.
If you wait 24 hours to take the pills, they won’t do much good and it’s too late.
This is why I have potassium iodide pills as part of my family’s survival plan.
I have these pills in our bug out bags at home.
But before you purchase potassium iodide, I’d recommend getting it from a company that is FDA-approved.
Most companies are not FDA-approved and you’ll see a bunch of the cheap stuff sold on Amazon.
Two of the companies that are FDA-approved are…
iOSAT
ThryoSafe
Just choose whatever works for you.
For kids, they take the 65mg doses and adults take the 130mg doses.
Also, kids are much more likely to have their thyroids damaged from a nuclear event than adults… so make sure you have plenty for your kids and grandkids.
Lastly, you can buy the potassium I mentioned above online and you don’t need any prescription or anything like that.
So, if you’re worried about a nuclear event (which is definitely more likely than it has been in many years) you may wish to stock up on some.
And if you want to know exactly how to survive and protect your family during a nuclear event (including more items to stock up on), make sure and grab the guide below.
