The Electric GT Championship, a new series for electric-powered racecars aiming to provide "festivals for our electric future," has scheduled its first "Electric Grand Prix" doubleheader race date for Nov. 25-26 at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France, where preliminary testing of the Electric GT Tesla Model S P100D (pictured above, with video below) has been conducted. It is the first and so far only confirmed date and venue out of a planned 10-event championship for 2017-'18.
Each Electric Grand Prix will consist of practice and qualifying sessions followed by two 60km (37-mile) races. The series plans to make its races available for streaming on YouTube.
Subsequent events, which remain "pending FIA confirmation," are slated to be in an unnamed country for January 2018, Portugal (March), Italy (April), Germany (May), Belgium (June), The Netherlands (July), the UK (September) and Spain (October).
