Default anyone with expierence tuning a F150 for MPG?

I'm looking to tune my 2003 F150 4.6 liter supercrew for the best MPG possible.

Very lightly modified.

I was looking at some of the programmers you can buy, but from what I'm seeing, they are all preset tunes and more focused on dumping more fuel to make more power than increasing MPG.
I want something that I can manually adjust.
If there is a programmer out there that will do that, then awesome.

At this point, I am considering just a SAFC-II and a wideband o2 sensor and tuning it that way.

In a perfect world, I would have a tune for "easy on the throttle" fuel economy, a separate one for performance, and a separate one (if needed) for towing my trailer around.
In my mind, I'm just picturing having to keep an eye on the wideband all of the time and adjusting the SAFC as needed to keep things the way they need to be.

Any Advice?

Put a MegaSquirt and a wideband on it, I'll help you tune it. All of your goals would be easy to achieve with the control of a MS.

now that is a pretty good idea.

the only thing that the programmers do that I would kinda want is they can adjust shift points and converter lockup and all of that, but again, it looks like basic canned set ups, nothing that you can really manually control.
Almost seems like some MPG can be hand just getting the tranny set up better.

Can you wire in a MS to control the engine and leave the stock system in place to control the transmission?

I've not looked into what a MS can do for transmission control. I bet they have a way to do it, though.

yeah, from what I've been able to find thus far (more research needed) the MS can be set up basically as a piggy back to the stock ECU. so the tranny control and all of that won't be effected.
The aftermarket programmers let you adjust things like fluid pressure, shift points, torque converter lock up and all of that.
I'm pretty sure I even found one that will let you adjust everything manually and be totally custom. Again, more research needed.

Thanks for the MS suggestion, that really seems like the best way to go.
I'll have to hit you up once I get that far. Its just gonna depend on how good business is, (if you know anyone needing lawncare/landscaping, I'm looking for new clients, residential and commercial.)
Thanks
