TR MPG Challenge
Not a huge improvement, but I'll bet I have the most economical car on TR if we include original purchase cost.
I really feel like I've hit a wall. Been driving with windows up and blower/vents off and can't get 39..
Car Type: 1985 Toyota Corolla Sport SR5
Miles on Car: 233,000
Gallons: 12.0
Miles: Never maxed it out, but most I've gotten has been 421.4
MPG: 38.78
EPA: 31
% Improved: 25%

The Math is weak in this one, Obiwan.
421.4 miles/12.0 gallons = 35.12 mpg
35.12/31 = 1.1329 = 13.29% improvement.
But, that's still good enough to get you in the top 20!

Well I didn't pull into the gas station with my fuel tank dry... I calculate the usual way; fill up, drive, fill up, and miles traveled in between divided by the amount of gas that it takes to fill it back up. Why wouldn't everyone here be doing it that way?
Everyone does do it that way. Is 12 gallons the size of your gas tank? If so, why would you tell me that instead of exactly how many gallons you actually filled up with, which is the information we actually need to calculate your MPG?
Work with me here.
Work with me here.

I thought it was just a random factoid. Well, yes 12.0 gallons is the tank size. Actual fillup for that tank I don't remember, but would work backwards to calculate it. I've been recording since I got the car, and just posted my highest (though not uncommon) calculated MPG and the furthest I've gone on a tank. Oh well, glad to be in the top 20. Literally sweating to get to 40!
