Al,

What about the width of the thing and the lug nut pattern? Is it hard to convert it over to use the stock brakes?

Guns...there are a few options...some use stock axles (screw that) or get axles from Moser for around $300 that will be proper width and correct lug pattern.

Okay.

That sounds good to me but what about being able to hook the brakes up and keep the ABS on this type of set up?

brakes will still attach to the same spot since the key to this whole thing is to use the outer section of the axle tubes (10 bolt) and weld them to the inner axle tubes (8.. That way you have your factory spring perches and LCA mounts, etc. It may be tough to retain TCS but ABS should be easy. I still dont have the whole story yet.

Ok, I don't know a whole lot about the 10 bolt we are packing, but what the hell makes it such a pu$$y rear end? Isn't there something we can do besides replace the whole thing? I can't say I've actually seen a blown up rear end, just rumors regarding them. Is it just the design? If so, could we change it?

Andy,

The Rearend we have now only has a 7 3/8' carier. Its not even a real 10 bolt its based on the rearend from the Monza and if you throw big power at them they will break.

But yes --you can attach a sling to it in the hopes of keeping it together for a longer period of time. That sling is the TA girdle, and it helps in keeping everything in place.
Pretty easy to do as well and if I remember right, about $150.00 total with lube.
