Default I wont be out Sat :(

New cam is going in along with some valvetrain work. Im hoping these two things along with my new exhaust will push me thw extra 35 HP needed to reach 700 rwhp without upping the shot. Just making more efficient use of it.
Old cam is 232/236 .572/.575
New cam is 236/244 .609/.612 I think. The extra exhaust duration should help on the juice. It will be installed 4 degrees advanced. to help get its business done by 6500 rpm.

At that point I will just use a dual 100/100 shot to stay around 625-645 rwhp and move toward doing the Ford 8.8 rear end conversion with a good gear, either 3.73 or 3.90.

Cool

Its about time you get a real cam with some real lift LOL

I need to read up on that advancing and retarding cam timing. My timing set is adjustable +/- 8*s

Zate,

The Ford 8.8 and the GM 12 Bolt could be carbon copies. There are some that say the 8.8 is a knock off of the 12 bolt. All you need is the equpment to do the welding to change the brackets around. I never thought about it before but It would be a cheaper alternative to the 12 Bolt or the ford 9 inch conversion. And on top of that there are a ton of companies that make axels, gearsets and carriers for this rear end, so this could be annother sideline for big Al.

(There has been alot of talk about the 8.8 for a while now... it's nothing new. Al will be the first one that I know that utilized it, though.)

Al, just what you need... more power!! Gonrats, or good luck, or whatever is appropriate to say in this case.

As Dino said..its been done several times before. But the reason for it is just as you say...an incredible abundance of cheap parts, used parts and choices. I was at Real Speed Parts talking with Walt...he was telling me the prices and showing me all the stuff he has just laying around...that pretty much made up my mind for me. Plus he uses a mediocre 8.8 in his setup and he is hooking hard with like 1.29.1.35 sixty foots without much problem. So once the hassle of fabbing the setup is done...its all gravy after that.
