Thats the LOOOONG version, but in short check out the pics.

LS1 block Look at the shiney casting and the "bullseye" castings..

LS6 block Look at the DARK grey casting and no "bullseye" marks..

The ls1/ls6 is not a VTEC engine. I have seen a Z28 run 11.58 @ 115 with just bolt ons and stock internals. He was running a 3600 stall converter and 10.5 slicks. I have a 2000 z28 that has 3.73 gears, hpp3, lid with K&N, and free mods. My best time in that car so far is 13.1 @ 107 on street tires when it was 90 degrees. And that is with an automatic

It does have VTEC... My engine used to rev ALOT faster and change exhaust tones at ~3000 RPMs. It was like two more "valves" were opening :o The honda kicks in ~6k right?? Since we have twice the cylinders, we dont have to rev half as much, so ours kicks in ~3k. Sounds about right!
