Converter Stall Spped? which one?
im am looking at the VIG 3200 and the YANK SS3600.
I am just curious of the 3600 would be too much stall for me. I would like to keep the mannerisms of a daily driver car, which is why i am considering the 3200.
However, i dont want to be wishing and wondering what the 3600 would feel like in my car.
Any input guys?

vig 3200 actual stall speed is about 3600 rpms. also the perfect stall on the street for an ls1 is IMO 3500 rpms so both are great. i have driven an ss3800 rpms convertor and it was very tight (not loose) and streetable. if you are not going to spray the motor, i would go with the vig 3200 but it is not as efficient as the yank (from a roll or highway stuff). both are great.
oh and also the yank is much more money i believe. th vig should be in the 750 or something dollars. the yank will be 850+.

Gator, the car will not be sprayed. The only other major mod i plan on doing to it are headers, which i already have. Does that change the senerio for what size stall speed at all?
I priced the YANK at $895, and the VIG at $735.
Still pondering which one. 3600 sounds pretty high, and the $900 price tag look painful.
My tranny completely let out on me on 275 sunday afternoon.
I am going to see a guy named GRADY at 2001 Transmissions that i have been recommended to this afternoon, just to gt a feel of his shop and who he is.

Corey,
Go with the Yank. That is the one I will be retrofitting the present TCI converter I have now with later on down the line.

well both convertors are very similar stall speed, just dont be confused about how Vig rates thier units. also if you are gonna run a bigger convertor like the two mentioned and the tranny is out, get the internals beefed up, bigger stronger clutches (blue or red), hardened sun shell, etc. i am VERY happy with my Art Carr 4L60e parts. otherwise the tranny will crap out fast. these convertors hit SO hard. tranny cooler is a must as well. they are cheap protection. lots to think about huh?
oh and if you arent spraying the car, either convertor are still good. only differnce is the yank is more efficient from a roll. i Love my yank and previous units built by yank in other cars.

Andy you have an automatic? i thought it was a 6 speed?
I think im going to go with the VIG 3200. the Yank is just too far out there in price.
Ive heard really good things about the VIG. $900 is just too much for me to spend on one part.

I went to Grady today, he said i should just replace the internals with new stock GM stuff. he said it holds up pretty well.
I was thinking of beefed up clutches and a kelvar band, but he recommended i just go with the stock stuff.
He siad the only part really worth upgrading is the Servo to help with the line pressure.
So it looks like ill go with the stock parts and a VIG converter, the YANK is just way too expensive.
