corey, i STRONGLY recommend you go elsewhere. this guy thinks GM internals are strong then he doesnt understand the kind of heat and pressure made by a convertor with an STR of 2.2 or more! i will say that you will be on a last leg if you even rebuild with stock parts. go to LS1tech.com and go to the drivetrane forum and ask what is needed. i doubt a tranny would last 100 WOT passes with a convertor like you want.

just trying to help.

cant tonight, got too much going on. tomorow i will try to give ya a call. also i am a night owl, so 10pm ok for ya? and i am no guru, but i have been through a few 4L60e trannys (lt1 and ls1) and a few different convertors.

it is understandable if reg mechanics or tranny guys to not understand these new hard hitting lockup convertors. it is new technology for most of them.

and by the way, my name is John

I just called TBryne (sales, not the tech line) and girl said that i shouldnt go with the SS3600 unless i have suspension mods. and that i should stick to the street 3200 converter...

i didnt want to do any suspension mods, is what she is saying true? I cant use the SS3600 with out suspension mods?

She was only the sales lady, not the tech line, its long distance for the tech line and i cant call them from work. so im thinking she doesnt really know what shes talking about.

they dont know what they are talking about dude. first what "street" convertor 3200 are they talking about? if they are talking about the 3200 vigilante, then stop talking to them now! lol. Tom Bryne knows his stuff, his wife SHOULD know what she is talking about, but i dont know what is going on. i have delt with him a few times. the vig 3200 stalls at 3600 rpms so the stall speeds are teh SAME with the convertors. as for suspension mods, sure they are nice, but on automatics, they are not as important as on the shocking 6 speed cars. cars have gone deep into 1.6 and better on 100% stock suspension pieces in bigger stall cars.

and i just reread your post, NO WAY is it true that you couldnt use the SS3600 with stock suspension pieces.

Ok John, thats for clearing that up. I think she was refering to the YANK 3200.

I will call YANK tonight after work and ask thier opinion. if all is ok, i will order the SS3600.

Im going with some beefier internals with blue clutches on the 3-4 and stock ones on the rest, as i hear the rest run well and only the 3-4 need to be upgraded.

The only thing im worried about is the 2.5 STR.....

Would i be happier with a 2.2 or something? the SS3600 is only available in a 2.5, but ive read that its ok on the 3600 because of larger windows in the turbines, so a 2.5 is alot more streetable than it would be in another type of converter.

Is that right John?

that company is very good, looks like pretty much the exact internals i have when i ordered mine from art carr. they know what they are talkign about and i would it right the first time. the str issue is tough. first more str=more tire blazing power. it also makes the convertor tighter. i have driven this particualr convertor and it is awesome and extremely streetable. you pay for yanks technology but i think it is worth it. you wont be buying another one (and i am sure you will eventually add more power) any more Qs and let me know, i will call.

oh yea one more thing, i would suggest getting a transgo shift kit put in the tranny (set on the middle setting springs) for firmer shifts. good luck and looks like you are gonna have a beast on your hands. oh and also you can IM me anytime.
