Hypercrap is just that. junk. they are a decent deal if you buy them used for like 150 bucks or something, but other than that they are a paper weight. they are good for the aboved mentioned but are worth no power at all. in fact now a days you can have all your codes deleted and programing other than a/f stuff for 150 bucks or so by many out there.

Ok guys, I was leaning away from the converter, but after reading up on some info given by the group as a whole, I'm thinking I may give it a shot. I am looking at maybe a Vig3000-3200, str maybe 2.0 (?), a tranny cooler, and then naturally some drag radials. Does that sound like about $1000? Also, I would really like to do this myself with some instruction (I'm trying to learn as I go), but I have a limited amount of tools and no access to a lift. Anyone out there that could help me out with those two problems in the near future?

It can be done with hand tools and jackstands in your drive way. It is just a time consuming task.

Yeah, that's how I swapped out the rear end, but it wasn't much fun. There's probably someone I know that can help me out. I'm trying to keep my costs to a minimum and still try to get things done as fast as possible because my TA is my daily driver until my brother gets his truck running. No biggie, I'll just wait until I have the necessary means.

nothing will respond like a convertor. it is the single best mod other than nitrous and wont effect drivability. the vig 3200 is a very popular unit and hits hard. also it is just the right amount of stall.

Would you bother with a shift kit if your getting a torque converter, cause ive heard it helps tighten the shifts up after a torque converter install?

yes i am one of the believers that a good trans-go shift kit (not a cheap substitute) will allow the tranny to live longer by getting rid of the slop b/w shifts. i have one and love it.

Not really. You still need a kit.
