Default got tires?

Well I finally went to the track yesterday (bmp) and the first run was a disaster! I didn't know how to anticapte the tree , late start then on top of that I stopped to early lmao!!!! ran a 15.1 wow I almost went home right there. So I ran again still ran a 14.8 @96.92 mph , I thought wow is something wrong?? Next run 14.46@98.17 then 14.42@98.23, then 14.22@ 98.7 and finally 14.17@99.1, that was the best time. So then i asked around with other f-body guys, they said my tire rot ass that's why I come out of the hole so bad (whell spin) , I had full tank of gas , I guess this is a no-no! and I need to learn how to stall at the line . So being the rookie I am at the track I have a lot to learn it appears! Any suggestions on good drag radials? I know nitto's are one of the better ones. What a fair price? Hopefully by Next time I will hace tires and the juice at a 125 shot. Im thinking I may run with some better driving a 13.3 to13.7????? any opinions??

1) on the tree leave on the second amber light. If you wait on the green the other guy will be out on you by 3 or 4 cars.

2) Launch at just off idle and go up by 100 rpm untill you get to the best spot. Keep a log so you have objective data to look at. Watch the 60' times on your slips they will tell the tale of what is working and what aint.

3) Tire pressure. Even on street tires you need to drop the pressure a little bit to get them to hook their best. expirement to see what air pressure your tires like best, once again keep a log so you have a record to analize.

4) Nittos are great. They are not a sticky as the BFG DRs but you can get 18 months or so driving out of them. I don't know if your car is 100% stock or not but if it is get the exhaust done and get a cold air intake before you spend cash on an N2O kit.

Thanks for replying gunslinger , I have the intake , programmer and flow master exhaust minus the cat. I already have the n20 kit just need a solenoid for it. I like your advise on launching , great idea of keeping a log book. I saved all my et slips to start tracking my times. The current tires are very hard in their compound , do you run a bmp at all? what are you running , I always like to see others run and get tips , thanks!!!

Yep I run at BMP from time to time. Just click on my profile all the 1/4 mile stuff is in there. Those times are with just the drivers side rear tire putting power down. I intend to fix that problem add 3:73s and get a low 12 second slip. I would think you will get deep into the 12s with the nitrous. Have you looked at getting headers and a bigger TB yet? I have heard the LT1 responds real well to that stuff.

Yeah full tank is alot of extra weight, I try to go there with 1/4 tank or less.

Weather is a factor also, this hot/humid weather starting to come sucks for drag racing.

I had some nitto drag radials they hook well, for me they hooked better on the street than track. I really need some sticky tires cause I ran a 14 flat with a 101 trap speed, sad thing is I have a auto.

Also take out any crap out of your car, like boxes and stuff, and make sure you turn your asr off cause i forgot once and it added .4 and that was only at the 1/8 mile.
