Default installing long tube in 95 camaro......any hints???

:e vil::mad ::mad ::ev il4: :rant :: blackeye:: tard:

WTF!!!!! Who ever designed these engine bay's needs to be shot...well not really but dam this sucks!!! i just put installed a new head gasket, the heads, and now working on getting the long tube's in. wow there is NO room...I got the driver side on after a few hours. and the design leaves no room for the bolts to tighten it up. now i am about to jump on the passenger side that looks even less room. I read to take out the motor mount and jack the motor up for a little room....ANYONE HAVE AND HINTS to make this easier?????

If you have an engine hoist just bolt the engine to the hoist unbolt the motor mounts lift the engine out a few inches and your golden. Otherwise jacking it up will work too but just remember to put 2 2x4's on the jack or you might put a hole in your oil pan and thats a pain in the ass by itself.

i wish i had a lift but even then i doubt it....theirs literally less than 1/4 clearance on the passenger side after being installed.....that's not to mention trying to weave it all in there and then lining up the 2nd piece that goes around the steering column...

i jacked it up and dented the oil pan a little....doesn't seem too bad but i want to drop the pan anyways and probably do new motor mounts while its apart. ...i think everything i have done so far is nothing but a pain on this car.

You did put a block of wood across the pan before jacking it didnt you? And are you installing these from the bottom or top?

Altho while you were doing headgaskets I would have set the headers in then... Live and learn

i know it is too late but you could have just put the blocks of wood under the k member and not dented anything.

you would think but then theirs no way to get the bottom head bolts on. i put them in from the top...to get it from the bottom i would have had to take the driver side steering shaft out....that one is a 2 piece that wraps around the steering shaft....i figured out the passenger side from a hint on a camaro forum and i took the starter off for a little more play room but now i have to cut the old exhaust back because the long tube hits it and i cant finish now until i get a saws all....From reading the shortys just drop right in...now thinking i should have gotten those but too late now lol.
