Default Next project C5 Brake Conversion on Fbody

Decided to take another project. I've always wanted some zo6 brakes but they were always too expensive... But found a deal on these from a Vette guy who was upgrading his brakes.. Curious if anyone has C5 brakes on there Fbody from TR. I'm putting the C5 rotors on the back as well which is kinda of a pain because its not a direct fit.. But i'll figure it out.

Well I do have LS1 brakes on the car right now. In the front anyhow. The back has LT1 brakes. The LS1 camaro calipers are gravity cast so they distort underload/heat and apply pressure across the rotor differently causing the rotors to warp easily. The pistons are also larger than the C5 caliper pistons and that combined with what was just stated above warps the smaller 12inch rotor. So the C5 caliper and the larger rotor will absorb more heat, much less chance of warping and stop quicker...

The Rear Brakes...I can use the C5 rear calipers and pads but the rotor doesn't want to mate with the Fbody backing plate... So either use the LS1 rear rotor or try modifying the backing plate to accommodate the C5 rotor... if thats even possible.

Either way it'll be a nice upgrade.

do you ever drive at the track and I dont mean the drag strip? the extra meat isnt a bad idea, but you will get more braking power and less fade by going with a set of good brake pads. All roadracers and auto-xers will tell you pads make the biggest difference.

Yeah dude i dont auto-x or race it that much ... ..
See the car has some nice LS1 Calipers, LS1 slotted rotors and hawk hps pads on it now. It stops well and no fade on the street... But the problem is that the LS1 caliper design over powers the inadequately sized rotor and warps the rotor if you come down hard. This is a design flaw addressed with the C5 set up.. which has the smaller pistons, pressure casting, and cooling fins in the rotor... So more so than stopping.. I went with this set up because its ability to take abuse and still function great.
The guy basically sold me the fronts at a good used price and threw in the rear calipers/rotors/pads for free so thats why the rears are getting upgraded too..
